Nordlys NTNU never goes on vacation — year round, our members work designing, developing, producing and testing our technology. And beyond the pure technical work, we also travel around Europe, host and attend events, and do many fun social activities together. Here on our blog, you can see a snapshot of these activities.
October 2026
This week we held our first concept review. The concept review is an important part of the project period, as it gives every group the opportunity to present their ideas for the project, both technical and non-technical groups such as Logistics, Business and Board. Getting feedback on your work is important in a large organisation, and everyone got the chance to present their ideas and receive feedback. Thanks to everyone who showed up and gave feedback on the presentations, especially the alumni who took the time to share their thoughts. And a big thanks to Rafael, Shivaraj and Steve, our technical advisors, who gave valuable insights afterwards.
September 2026
Last week we competed in our first competition, the ilumen European Solar Challenge. We completed 120 laps throughout the race, totaling 480 km, powered only by solar energy. This is a huge milestone for us. We have learned a lot and are excited to continue to get better. With Belgium behind us, we now set our sights on the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge in Australia next year. We would like to thank our sponsors and partners for their invaluable support during this project, and NTNU for backing us along the way. Their belief in us made it possible to take Nordlys from the drawing board to the racetrack. We also want to thank every team member for the long hours and hard work that went into the car and the race.

We've completed the very first test of Lumholtz at Rudskogen!💫 The first time we have driven our solar racing car is a huge milestone for us. While we faced some challenges along the way, our two test days was a great success. We gained valuable insights that bring us one step closer to a competition-ready car!We want to give a big thank you to Rudskogen Motorsenter for welcoming us and letting us use their facilities! We wouldn't be able to test our car in a safe environment without their support, and we look forward to a continued collaboration.🏎️🙏🏼

After two years of hard work and dedication, we´re incredibly proud to finally uveil Lumholtz - our and Norway´s first ever solar race car! ⚡ 🎉 The unveiling on Monday was a great success, and we’re thankful for everyone who joined us to celebrate this milestone.
